Velliyamkallu has became a tourist destination with its Regulator-cum-bridge in the Bharathapuza river. Velliyankallu is a place in the local village Pallippuram panchayat of Palakkad district. The Regulator-cum-bridge is used for the fresh water supply and irrigation for farming. Lot of fresh water fish is captured from Velliyankallu and tourist can enjoy the delicious dishes in nearby hotels.
Local people use Vanji (the local boat) for fishing in the regulator. Tourists can enjoy the beauty of the nature and do fishing in the regulator. The place will be a relief for the people who are searching for solitude and peace. It is a place away from the tourist places in the cities.
Velliyamkallu got its name from the rock group in the centre of regulator dam. It will shine like silver in the sunshine and in Malayalam silver is called as "Velli" and rock as "Kallu" and combined to form "VelliyanKallu"
