Marayur in Kerala is famous for 'Chakkara' - the sugar cubes created from sugar canes and a number of "Muniyara" in the area. The locally called Muniyara are actually Dolmens which dates back to the Neolithic times and derived from "muni" (hindu saint) and "ara" (dolmen).

Marayoor is situated near to the Munnar and Dolmens can be found at Alinchuvad, a small village in Marayur. Muniyara's can be found as a set of two to five and intended for family burials and lot of such Dolmen sets can be found in the Alinchuvad area.
