Koomullu is a herbal plant with thorns and is heavily armed. This Aruvedic herbal plant falls in perennial shrub group and grows up to 3 meters in height. Koomullu Flowers are seen in terminal spikes in yellowing colour with red brown spots in the center. These plants grows throughout India in the wild planes and coastal areas. The Ayurveda calls this plant as Vishakandaki and are used in several medicinal preparations. In some parts of Kerala, the top of Koomullu is used in the preparation of Chukku Kaappi. Chukku Kaappi is an ideal medicine to get relief from body pain and fever. The plant falls in the botanical group and Ayurveda acharyas use this in their medicine preparations.
