Anakkayam is a crevice lake in the Sholayar- Peringalkuthu route. The area is famous for its lake with cool rushing and placid waters. Tourists can reach here after a 20 kms drive from Chalakudy through the Sholayar-Peringalkuthu forest road. Local tales said that a group of elephants drowned in the deep lake flowing into Chalakkudy River. Due to this instance the place got its name as 'Aanakkayam' which means Elephant crevice.
The place is amazingly beautiful with its cool rushing waters, chiseled rocks and flowing streams. The excellent time for a visit to this place is October to March.
