Kettu (Cheerpu) in Canoli Canal near Vattekkad
This Kettu or Cheerpu was build by British to prevent the salt water from entering to Canoli Canal. The Canoli Canal is the waterway extending to Chavakkad (Chowghat) town. Earlier this canal was used by traders to transport goods for trade from Kollam to Chavakkad using Kettuvallom (House boat) and boats. In the year of 2000 this Cheerpu was rebuilt by the Public Works Department of Kerala. The stairs enable people to cross across the canal before the bridge has came in Moonamkallu.
