Bhoothathan Kettu is situated 50 kms northeast of Ernakulam Town. It is a dam site with boating facilities. A forest nearby has some rock caves that can be fun to explore. According to local folklore, the place was built by many spirits in just one night. Hence the name Bhoothathankettu, meaning fort of the ghosts. The Forest Department provides elephant rides through the forest to old Bhoothankettu, which is very interesting.
